Real stories, real love
Just wanted to send you some photos of our Linda and let you know that our girl is doing wonderfully. She has settled in perfectly and has become an indispensable part of our lives. We love her dearly and are so grateful that you trusted us with her. Sending lots of love to your entire team.
We adopted Buda in May 2024. He had been at the Cantinho for 2 years, estimated to be 16 years old when he arrived malnourished and needing digestive tract surgery after a life of neglect. The volunteers thought he would never be adopted, they revealed to us that four categories of dogs get adopted the least: big, male, black, and old. He was all four. To us, he was perfect 💚
We brought him home to his own bed (which he immediately claimed!) and treats. What he loved, and still loves most, is walking every day. He just loves to walk, walk, walk. The first weeks on his walks, he constantly looked behind to check if we were still there; this gradually decreased as he understood that that was just what we did: walk together, and go back home, together.
During the first year, he seemed to get younger and younger. His fur was shining, he started happy barking in the morning, and he was jumping and running around. Being adopted made him turn into a puppy again!He has had three more surgeries, recovering outstandingly each time. Around the second year, especially after a big stomach surgery, he started to get slower and older at last. He sleeps a lot now, and we slow down to wait for his tired legs, while before we used to have to fasten our pace to keep up with him. He still sleeps on the bed with us sometimes for belly rubs throughout the night. Knowing that before the Cantinho he spent most of his life on a chain, seeing him happy now warms my heart every day.
We love him so much and are lucky to have had over 2 years with him already, and will be with him until his last 💚
Two and a half years ago, Roxy came into our lives, and we have never been the same since. 🐾 What started as an adoption quickly became a bond that is impossible to put into words. Roxy brought more joy, more routine, more love and plenty of laughter into our days. With her quirks, affection and unique personality, she became family from the very first moment. Today, we cannot imagine our lives without her. Thank you to O Cantinho da Milu for bringing us together with our very special ‘Crazy Maria’. 💚
Some stories begin with great injustice but end filled with love. My Kyra was abandoned at the gates of O Cantinho da Milu on the very first day of her life, just like so many other animals. It is impossible not to look at her and feel immense gratitude for the wonderful work this association does and for the dedication of the entire team. Adopting Kyra was the best decision of my life, even knowing that raising a puppy requires patience, commitment and hard work. Thank you, O Cantinho da Milu, for taking care of her until she reached my arms. 🐾❤️
Six months ago, Oliver came into our lives through adoption, and it was love at first sight. From the very first moment, they were completely upfront with us about the illness he had and the whole treatment he would need to go through. We had our worries, of course, but nothing was enough to stop us from bringing him home. It's been six months of dedication, a few challenges, and a lot of learning. And today, with enormous happiness, we can say: Oliver is cured! During this time, he brought so much energy into our family, a bit of mischief, lots of laughter, and above all, an enormous amount of love. He has become part of us. And today we can no longer imagine our family without him. Adopting Oliver was, without a doubt, one of the best decisions we could have made. Our Oli with the sweet eyes!
